Literature
Tim Cahill, Jaguars Ripped My Flesh   Various true stories Cahill wrote for Outside magazine; only a few are caving/cave diving tales, but all are quite entertaining.
Jon Krakauer, Into Thin Air   This is about a paid expedition to Everest. It has nothing at all to do with cave diving, but parallels can certainly be drawn between these two, seemingly unrelated hobbies.
Michael Ray Taylor, Cave Passages   Well-written book about the author's caving endeavors around the world.

Coffee Table Books
Lalo Fiorelli, Splendors of the Yucatan   Stunning photos of underwater caves
C.C. Lockwood, The Yucatan Peninsula   Not a caving book (though there is a section on the cenotes), this contains beautiful, varied photos of the Peninsula. Published in 1989, it is interesting to see how the area has changed.
Michael Ray Taylor, Caves: Exploring Hidden Realms   From the Imax movie, the book has more information on regions and caves that one might expect. It is divided into three sections: Ice, Water, and Earth; lovely photographs illustrate each section.
Gustavo Vela Turcott, Mexico Profundo   (In Spanish) This provides an overview of caving in Mexico. Photos and illustrations should interest even those who do not read Spanish.
